History

The White Swiss Shepherd Dog is a shepherd dog native to Switzerland It is less aggressive and has a gentler personality than the German Shepherd Dog . Its abilities are similar to those of Germans, and it is loyal to its owner. Because this dog is descended from the German Shepherd, it is a smart dog with excellent learning ability and situational judgment. On July 4, 2011, the FCI (World Kennel Federation) recognized it as Group 1, ‘Sheep Dogs & Cattle Dogs’ Section 1 Sheepdogs,  number 347. Beginners without training experience will not be able to fully capture the charm of this breed. This is a dog breed that is steadily gaining popularity thanks to its neat and elegant pure white fur.

Personality and characteristics

The White Swiss Shepherd Dog is affectionate, obedient to its owner, and has a high desire to learn. If you train properly, you will be able to fully demonstrate its charm. They are easy to train as they have a strong desire to learn and will try to learn everything their trusted owner teaches them. Since they are calm from a young age, they are always by their owner’s side and try to understand everything about them, so they not only receive basic training but also follow their owner’s instructions unconditionally. However, in order to properly demonstrate that ability, the owner’s attitude is important. Training must be done with consistent content and firm leadership.

German Shepherd Dogs are brave, sensitive, agile, and bold. They are also energetic, obedient, and eager to learn. He is also serious, quiet and smart. They do not hesitate to give their lives for someone who recognizes their worth. You may think that German Shepherd Dogs lack loyalty because they are well trained and follow people, but in fact, they are very loyal dogs that only care about their first owner.

German Shepherd Dogs are one of the smartest and most trainable dog breeds. So, through various trainings, he is an all-purpose dog that works as a police dog, military dog, drug detection dog, guide dog for the blind, etc.

Shepherds like to be close to their family, and they react sensitively and become wary when strangers approach.

Also, since they have a personality that hates being alone, if they are left alone for a long time, they will become very stressed and may become aggressive. This is a very intelligent dog breed that likes to get along with people and find its own role in it.

External characteristics

The White Swiss Shepherd Dog is a large dog with a body height of 60-66cm for males and 55-61cm for females, and a weight of 30-40kg for males and 25-35kg for females. This dog’s head is somewhat sloping and wide between the ears. The erect ears have white, feather-like hair, and stand pointed and high. These ears are mobile and can rotate laterally. The lips are black or dark in color, and they appear strong, alert, and energetic even when resting. The eyes are slightly slanted, almond-shaped and not bulging.

When viewed from the side, this dog has a long muzzle and a slightly rounded head. The teeth are strong, allowing for a perfect bite, and the top of the head tapers from the eyes to the nose. The chest is thick and moderately wrinkled, the thighs are strong and well-muscled, the legs are straight and the elbows are not close to the body. The arched, small, round feet are well shaped and the soles are wide. The length of the back is much longer than the height at the withers, and the tail reaches below the knee joint. When at rest, it is slightly bent and hangs down, and has dense, long feather-like hair. Almost all of the pups’ fur is soft down, and their folded ears stand upright as they grow.

German Shepherd Dogs are a very hairy breed and shed constantly. In particular, they shed heavily during seasonal changes such as spring-summer and fall-winter. During these times, it is a good idea to comb the fur every day to remove the hair that falls out and stimulate blood circulation to encourage hair growth.

German Shepherds have good appetites, so their food and water needs to be controlled. In particular, if you drink too much water, your body shape will change, so it is better to supply an appropriate amount of water during meals, after training, etc., rather than leaving water out all the time.

Also, if a new competitor (another large dog breed) appears in his territory or the family’s attention is focused elsewhere, he may think that he is being ignored (he is very smart) and become violent, so it is best to determine the role of the Shepherd in the house. ~
